Women take center stage at WOW Factor event

All dictionaries agree, the word “wow” is used to express wonder, amazement, or great pleasure. That’s why it’s a fitting name of the spectacular event scheduled for Sept. 8, 2012 - an event sure to generate wonder, amazement and great pleasure for the 500+ women expected to attend the inaugural conference of The WOW Factor.

“I was inspired to create Women of Wellness - WOW - after hearing from so many women who were frustrated with the medical model in this country,” explained Leslie Hewitt, DC, to The Chiropractic Journal. Dr. Hewitt noted that the event was originally planned to spotlight chiropractic but has attracted attention from other alternative health approaches. “Many other health professionals - MD's, nutritionists, Ob/Gyn's, acupuncturists, and others - are joining the movement and the conference,” Hewitt explained. “It’s all about collaborating with women of wellness to nurture our chiropractic lifestyle.”

Hewitt is the perfect woman to start this exciting program. She combines energy and enthusiasm with proven expertise in women’s health as well as in creating a successful wellness practice. She’s a chiropractor, speaker, author, aerobics instructor, yoga teacher, and an inspiration for women around the country. After building a huge network of contacts within the health care fields and health consumers, she recognized the need for the type of event that will allow practitioners to share their understanding of wellness with each other, their patients, and with members of the public. Male doctors are encouraged to send their female staff members and patients so their practices, too, can receive the benefits of the event.

The most electrifying activity planned by The WOW Factor is the WOW Conference, a one-day event featuring 20 guest presenters, networking time, wine tasting, an exhibitor’s lounge, entertainment and a lot more. “I’m really encouraging that all women make this a girl's getaway. Grab a couple of your girlfriends, your mom or your sister and come out and have a great weekend in the beautiful San Francisco area. It’s a great way to meet 500 women just like you, facing the same issues and concerns. Together we will capture the moments you live for!”

Hewitt emphasized this isn’t the typical chiropractic or health seminar. “This is like nothing you’ve gone to before,” she said, “we are inviting the public into the inner circle and we will be sharing from the heart - this is the start of a women's network!"

Among the guest speakers scheduled are:

  • Dr. Lani Simpson, a chiropractor and Certified Clinical Bone Densitometrist who specializes in osteoporosis prevention and diagnosis.
  • Dr. Lissa Rankin, an integrative medicine Ob/Gyn, author, speaker, artist, and founder of the Pink Medicine Revolution.
  • Dr. Kristine Hicks, a chiropractor and doula who specializes in birth education, vaccine risks, pregnancy, and family wellness.
  • Zoe Fry, dedicated to the evolution of Gift Consciousness as a path to purpose with the secret of reciprocity.
  • Beth Wisneiwski, a Palmer West chiropractic intern who has held many student leadership positions on campus and on the national level.

The event will be held at the Carr America Convention Center, in Pleasanton, near San Francisco. Tickets are $99 and include all activities including presentations, seminars, tastings, food, wine and shopping at the exhibitor lounge.
