Colorado DC to run for Congress
Currently, 19 members of the US Congress are medical doctors yet, despite the fact that there are more than 65,000 chiropractors in this country, not one of them serves in the US Senate or House of Representatives.
That may change soon. Colorado’s Perry Haney, who has earned both his DC and MD degrees, is running for Congress in the 6th Congressional District (a suburban district east and south of Denver).

DCs make holidays a season for giving
The holiday season is often a very busy time of year for DCs. Patients with winter flu symptoms, stressed from planning family gatherings or worn out from non-stop shopping, flood chiropractic offices. Yet, no matter how crammed their schedules were, in 2011, doctors across America made time to share the holiday message of giving in their offices. Understanding the real mean-ing of the holidays, staff and patients joined in with collections of food, warm clothing, and toys.

Vaccine backlash builds
Each year, city streets in America are cluttered with billboards and flashing neon signs marketing vaccines for everything from the flu to diabetes to shingles. This year, the signs started appearing even earlier than normal. But, the rush to “protect” the public wasn’t due to a fear of another “epidemic.” It was triggered by just the opposite: a low-risk year. To make up for the lack of fear-driven consumers coming in droves for their vaccines, stores began pushing the drugs a month earlier than usual.

Don’t fear ‘The Reaper’
The Greek god Chronos, symbolized by “The Reaper” (aka Father Time), was considered to be ageless. His offspring was revered as the creator of the cosmos. His name was associated with progress, the past, and the future.
Janus, the two-headed god of “transitions and new beginnings,” was so revered by the Romans that Caesar placed his name at the head of his calendar year... January. The blending of religious cultures, which the Romans were known for, is why our New Year’s celebration is associated with cleaning out the past, starting anew with resolutions, and new beginnings (progress) – a combination of Chronos and Janus, or The Reaper and new beginnings.
